Every community deserves healthcare, no matter the location or income level. And you shouldn’t need health insurance to access care. NorthLakes Community Clinic exists precisely for this reason. This vital organization has served Northern Wisconsin for nearly two decades, providing a wide range of services that include mental health care and family medicine.

What You Should Know About NorthLakes

NorthLakes Community Clinic has delivered on its promise to serve all patients, no matter how they identify, since 2008. They also offer discounted care for low-income patients. NorthLakes began in a place that was once a winery—it had also been a coffee shop and even a home at one point—before a collection of professionals earned a federal grant and turned it into a nonprofit.

Later, in 2013, the Lakes Community Health Center merged with Northwoods Community Health Center and became what it’s currently known as: NorthLakes Community Clinic.

Each clinic takes care of northern Wisconsin residents, not only by providing care in its clinics, but also by visiting local schools and nursing homes, delivering mental health care to students and dental care to older residents. NorthLakes clinicians also visit Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) programs to provide care for mothers—including soon-to-be mothers—and their children.

NorthLakes stays active outside of the clinic, too. They are a Federally Qualified Health Center that works across political parties to advocate for policies that expand healthcare access for patients in the region.

The Communities NorthLakes Serves

NorthLakes Community Clinic serves everyone. If you have Medicaid or private insurance, great. NorthLakes accepts those. But if you don’t have insurance, NorthLakes will take care of you on a sliding fee scale that can lower or eliminate costs altogether. You’ll never be turned away if you’re unable to pay.

NorthLakes’ many providers come from a variety of backgrounds, and it shows when they deliver care: You won’t be denied services based on identity, income level, or insurance status.

Why NorthLakes Serves Northern Wisconsin

From its inception, NorthLakes Community Clinic has worked from the idea that health isn’t just about what happens inside clinics. Barriers to healthcare can exist outside of clinics: transportation challenges, for instance, or lack of health insurance, or if you couldn’t afford your medication or medical visits.

NorthLakes c meet people in the community, in schools, nursing homes, and WIC programs, rather than asking families to find their own way through an unfamiliar system. NorthLakes works to dismantle these barriers by helping patients navigate the healthcare system. No barrier should keep you from getting the care you deserve.

The Services You Can Find at NorthLakes

As a NorthLakes patient, you can access medical, dental, and behavioral health services. The clinic’s broad range of services includes family medicine, psychiatry, mental health counseling, therapy for children, vision exams, and nutrition, diabetes, chiropractic, and addiction recovery care.
